By now I'm sure you know how Carter likes to tell stories. Here's another one to add to the book. I saw his assistant teacher this morning & she told me they were doing something in class where everyone stood up & talked about what their dad does. The kid that went before him was talking about his dad being a zookeeper. So Carter gets up there & says (with his head kind of hung low) my dad is a zookeeper... he takes care of lions & tigers. Then he went and sat down. As if that isn't bad enough, she then overheard him talking to one of his classmates during centers and he is saying that he has lions & bears that stay in our backyard & he plays with them. He also has a jaguar that he rides.
First of all.... WHAT? Second, how in the world does he know what a jaguar is? We've gone from police dogs to zoo animals now. All I can do is shake my head & laugh.

Clothes, doctors & other fun stuff
I've been in the midst of getting all my spring/summer stuff ready for a consignment sale in a couple weeks. Let me just say that my daughter had entirely too many clothes. It's just so much fun dressing a girl! I've got my drying rack with 3 rows of hanging clothes & a hanging rack packed all of 6 mths through 12 mths... (PS... if you know of someone who might want to come look through it, I'll be more than happy to let them). I'm not even half way through everything though. I look back at some of her stuff & remember her wearing it... so cute! She seems so big now. I've still got more tubs to go through (boys stuff included) & hang up... if you come to my house, be prepared to see lots of cloths!
My baby girl turned 17 months old today....I also took Kensley to the dr. today. She has another double ear infection. UGH! I think this is the longest we've gone between them though. I just had that feeling for the past couple days so I knew I had better take her. As soon as the doctor walked into the room, Kensley looked at her & pointed to her ear & said "eee". The dr. just laughed and said "you just made my job easy." Poor thing has a terrible diaper rash on top of that. She walks around holding her front side & says "poo poo"... 90% of the time she's referring to her rash hurting. Bless her... she just can't stay well.
Another cute thing she did yesterday... she ran into the kitchen yelling "no, no, no" (which means nose) and stood right in front of me & pointed to her nose... it was running & she needed it wiped. She's very verbal I tell ya. I can understand most everything she says and what she wants. Her latest kick is watching a "woo-wie" in the van regardless of how short the trip. As soon as we get in she yells "woo-wie, woo-wie" over & over until I finally put in a movie.

Catching up
It's been a doozy of a week..lots of catching up to do. I haven't blogged in a week, my house looks like a tornado hit it, I'm SO tired and there is lots more to be done. Let me start with backing up one week today. Last Sunday, Corby came into church saying he didn't feel well. I didn't think much of it until the day progressed. He started having chills & achy and I thought "uh oh... here it comes". He's been sick most of the week. We had a discussion later in the week & laughed about it, but honestly, when he's sick, he's out of commission... completely. He didn't really complain much, but I didn't give him the opportunity to because I was busy doing other stuff & I confined him to the bedroom (so none of the rest of us would get sick). When I'm sick, I don't get time off. I still go on with daily life, feeling like crap and do what needs to be done. That's the life of a Mom. Part of our joke later in the week was that men know how to rest & get better when they are sick... they do nothing. If a mom realistically could do that I would love to know how. Anyway, he's on the mend... it was a viral infection with coughing & congestion. He's back to contributing to the family again. I'm glad!
It was a busy week in general.. errands to be run, meetings at school, other stuff at school, breakfast date with some friends, getting stuff ready for a consignment sale... blah, blah, blah. To add to my stress, Carter decided this week that he didn't want to go to school anymore. It started Monday. His teacher called that afternoon & said Carter told her he didn't feel well & wanted to come home. However, he was running around playing, acting like nothing was wrong. I told her he was probably fine & it probably had something to do with Corby being home. Then Tuesday morning came. He complained that his stomach was hurting & started crying. As I'm trying to get the boys ready for school, make lunches, feed them breakfast, occupy Kensley, etc. Carter starts crying. I calmed him down & told him if he really felt bad, I would come get him from school (anything to get him out the door). I knew he was fine, but he has the "nervous poops" as I like to call it, therefore he thinks he's sick. He was fine on the ride to school & as I pulled in to drop them off he starts crying. Here I am in my PJ's & bedroom shoes trying to convince Carter to get out of the car because I can't walk him in the school. He doesn't buy it. Finally as I've held up the car line for 5 minutes, one of the teachers comes & gets him & walks with him to class. I still had the fear that I would be going back up there to get him. 8:45 am, he teacher calls & says he can't get it together & I need to come get him. GREAT! So here I go back up to the school to pick him up. I knew he wasn't sick, but what am I supposed to do. We get home, he plays a little, watches some TV & I ask if he really was sick & he just smiles at me. Little Stinker! I assured him that he was fine & he WOULD be going back to school tomorrow. Wed. morning rolls around, he gets up at 6:30 am (never gets up that early) and cries until I drag him in the class room and peel him off of me at 8am. My nerves were shot that day. Thursday, the same thing. Friday, Corby walked him into the class & he cried again. I don't know what's going on. Once he gets to school, he's fine, but he gets the "nervous poops" all morning getting ready for school and cries. I'm hoping it was all related to Corby being home & since we are back into the swing of things now, he'll be okay this week.
On a lighter note, Kensley is cracking us up these days. She talks all of the time & says new words daily. I am now "mommy" instead of "mama" and her nummy, nummy has been reduced to "numma" and a point of the finger. She is now running everywhere. I bought her some new clothes & shoes for spring & I was trying them on her the other day & after I would put something on, every time she would say "daddy" and run to go show him. Here's a picture of her first pigtails & of all of them watching TV
together.

Another good message
Our pastor continued the Authority Issues sermon series today. Today's topic was Parenting... check it out here. Click on part three.
We had the AWANA Grand Prix race tonight. This event is for the kids (and adults too) to race hot wheel cars for Chandler & Carter's age group and the older kids & adults raced wooden cars they made. This year they added a category for adults to enter. Corby entered a car and actually won 3rd place. He deserved it after all the work he put into this thing. I totally don't get it. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for him... but I don't get the excitement of building the car. I guess it would be compared to making cards for me (he could care less about that). He sanded, carved, poked, screwed, painted, etc on this car. It took him back to doing this as a kid. I can understand that excitement.
Corby is feeling a bit under the weather today. He's feeling congested, having the chills & was running a low fever tonight. I hope he's not getting the flu. I've Lysoled & cleaned everything around the house and washed my hands a lot. Please, Lord, I don't have time to get sick.

Pictionary Champs!
Corby & I are the standing champs in Pictionary (we played with some friends tonight). If you've never played that game, I highly recommend it. I don't think we've been beat yet when we are a team. I guess after being married for almost 12 years we know each other's "ways" and thoughts. I just love that game!
On another note, I took ALL the kids shopping yesterday. I must say they were all so good...really. We went to Gaffney to the outlets & the boys took turns pushing Kensley in the stroller & I guess having them around was good entertainment for her. We shopped for 2 1/2 hours & they didn't complain once. It's a miracle. I found some great deals for all the kids and they even cooperated to try on a few things. I didn't get to finish, so I went back again today. It was packed today. I guess with it being the weekend and a pretty day, everyone had the same idea.

My butt is sore
I took the boys skating tonight. It was a lot of fun & I haven't got to spend time with just them in a while. It was spirit night for their school and one other so there were tons of kids all over the place. Those kids are WILD when they get on skates! I haven't skated in probably 10 years or more, so I was a little cautious getting out on the floor. I took one lap around first to make sure it was all coming back to me. Chandler can skate... semi-decent. He doesn't fall much & he gets the concept of how to get around the rink. Carter on the other hand was on the floor more than on his two feet. I had to help him around a few times before he was convinced to keep going. Then I spent the remainder of the time with a death grip on his hands & trying to balance myself & him as well. He'll probably have a dislocated shoulder and bruised butt & hips in the morning from falling so much. I, on the other hand, will definitely have a bruised backside. I was creamed by a kid. He rammed right into the back of me, we both fell & his leg ended up under me with me landing on his skate. I have a perfect circle (the size of a skate wheel) on my hiney. I almost wanted to cry & then slap the kid, but I mustered enough umpf to get up and go on...very slowly I might add. He at least was nice enough to ask if I was okay. I'm telling you these kids were ruthless out there. Cutting in front of people, slamming into walls right in front of us, darting in & out... it was ridiculous. I don't know how many times they had to come over the loud speaker & tell kids to slow down & watch out for others around them.

PS... spell check is finally working again!

Tech junkie
I think I've figured out that's what I am. I just watched a segment on the Today show about people who are addicted to the internet & all their high-tech stuff. Granted, I'm not a phone "texter", but I'm addicted to my computer. My blog & reading others, I always have to check my email, I freak out if I leave my phone when I'm gone, you know the usual stuff that we as a country have accumstomed ourselves to that we would have never dreamed of when we were kids. I read my daily devotion on the computer, I listen to music on the computer, I keep my bank account stuff on the computer. When I have some free time, I don't look forward to sitting down & watching TV or going outside for a walk, I want to get on the computer. It's sad. I was just thinking this morning after I laid Kensley down for her morning nap that I wanted to update my online photo album so I can finish my digital scrapbook (one of my favorite things). I finished my laundry pile yesterday, so I have some time to work on it & not feel guilty. Until I watched that show. Actually, I didn't watch it, I was just listening to it in the background as I'm on the computer. See...I'm addicted.
