Pomp & Circumstance

I read something recently that talked about experiencing the "lasts" of your child's life. Sometimes you know when they will come & sometimes you don't. There will be one last big, slobbery kiss on the cheek, one last "swing me Mommy", one last... day of preschool. Today was one of those "lasts". Carter had his last day of preschool today & last night was his graduation.... a tear drops from my eye. This is the last time I will have a son in preschool (... granted I still have a daughter that will probably go through the program too). It was bittersweet. I'm am so proud of him & he did a great job performing last night, but then again, this is the next step to show me that he's growing up. I see how fast Chandler grew up after he started school and I know the same will happen with Carter. Boo, hoo... sniff, sniff. I'm not ready for this... at least I still will have one at home with me. There are things to look forward to as kids grow up. Change can be good & so much excitement comes with them growing up & learning new things. But then again, it's still sad to know they are not "little" anymore.

On another note, it's been a while since I've posted. Wellllll... lemme tell you we've had one heck of a week. Monday night I threw up & had the poops all night long. Therefore, I was pretty much out of commission until late Wed & I still didn't feel the greatest. Luckily (and we are still praying) no one else has got it. Wednesday night was AWANA graduation at church, Thursday was a field trip for Chandler's class to Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens in Belmont and Thursday night was preschool graduation. I wasn't too impressed with the gardens trip. Not many flowers were blooming, it was hot as I'll get out, Kensley cried most of the time & I still didn't feel great. This was the highlight of the trip... the walkway with the water fountains... most all of the kids were soaked when they came out of it.

I took Kensley in the pool today for her first dip. She loved it! She kicked her little fat legs & splashed the water & mostly licked the float. She was zonked after we came in. On a last note... want to wish my Mom a Happy Birthday today!!!

Happy Memorial Day

Not really a holiday for us today. Corby had to work, Chandler had school & homework, and I went to the Y like I do most Mondays. Just another day like all the rest. I took Chandler to the eye doctor this afternoon. He needs glasses. He's complained off & on all year, when he does homework & reads. I figured he was due an eye exam just to check things out. He's farsighted & one of his eyes is weaker than the other. So, the doctor prescribed reading glasses for him to wear while he's at school. He looks so cute in them. He doesn't have them yet, but it will be next week... just in time for the end of school. Ha!

The boys had a dip in the neighbors pool tonight. A little cool for the adults, but kids never seem to care about temperature. I'm sure they are going to ask every night from now until pool season is over if we can go swimming. Better get prepared.

Chandler's birthday party

Chandler had his Firetruck party on Saturday at the YMCA. It's was "slim pickens" (as I call it), for a crowd but he had a good time. I made him a firetruck birthday cake & he loved that. They played on the inflatable, ate food, opened presents & got to swim. Chandler told me for 2 days that the best part of birthdays is opening presents. He got some great stuff....a CARS racetrack, a CAT front loader (that's one of the things he asked us for), MamMaw got him a really cool army suit, Mimi made him a picture book of firetrucks she had found on the internet, several other things & most importantly money... (so he can go buy a new firetruck). Carter was a little upset that it's not his birthday & he didn't get any presents, but Chandler was a good big brother & has shared everything. Kensley loved the ice cream & screamed for more. She should advertise for the "got milk?" commercials.
