What is that?

I've seen my fair share of hail... but never for more than like a minute. Not the case today. We had what I call a good hail storm at our house this afternoon. Some of it was moth ball sized hail & it went on for a good solid 8 minutes (maybe even longer). These little pellets bounced all around our yard and looked like ping pong balls. Our trampoline was covered and the flower pots were full of the little white pellets.

Homemade Trail Mix/Snack

My mother-in-law told me about this recipe & I decided to give it a try. Delicious!

Quaker Oatmeal Squares cereal (i used cinnamon flavor)
walnuts
chocolate chips
dried fruit (i used dried cherries because that's all I had)
I also added some almonds to mine.

What a yummy, healthy treat... now if I can just get my kids to try it. hmmmmm.....

Happy Birthday Chandler!

Today my oldest child turned 10. Double digits. I'm kind of freaked out about that. Of course every kid looks forward to those significant birthdays and he's no different than the rest. Today, Kensley & I had lunch with him... Corby picked him up early from school to have some Daddy/Son time... he opened his present from us... we went to Mi Pueblitos for supper... and had cookie cake for dessert.

We are so proud of Chandler. He's such a good kid and has a great heart.

A few weeks ago he won an award where he was chose by his classmates as a "trustworthy friend". The award recognition says "always nice to everyone, never involved in gossip, rumor or trouble, I'm a trustworthy friend award". What an honor to be chose by his classmates for this! Then last week another friend of mine told me that her son came home one day & told her that Chandler was different. When she asked how he was different, her son (who is the same age as Chandler, but in a different class) told her that Chandler cares about people and is always nice to everyone and never says anything ugly or uses bad words. Yet again, what an honor to have a 10 year old kid volunteer this information to his mom. I am so proud of Chandler & the caring young man he is becoming. He loves to help people, has good manners and loves the Lord. I am so proud to be his mom!
