Happy Birthday to Chandler

Well, my firstborn is another year older... 7! Wow, that seems weird to me. Looking back at his pictures & remembering last year's birthday seems like just a few weeks ago. He doesn't have the little boy look anymore... he's looking more like his Daddy & like a little man. He woke up this morning to some firetruck balloons & I drew him a Happy Birthday sign with a firetruck & him as a fireman... he loved it. He got up on his own at 6:30am. He never does that. I guess he was excited because it's his birthday. He said he didn't feel good this morning, but I just brushed that off. I went & ate lunch with him today & took cupcakes to his class. He cried when it was time for me to leave... he said he didn't want me to leave & wanted to come home with me. (big tug at the heart strings) His teacher took him on with the class & went outside. I figured he would be fine & he just had it in his head he wanted to go home. I was wrong. When I picked him up, he looked like he didn't feel good & when we got home he had a fever. Man did I feel bad & his teacher did too. (She called to check on him tonight.) He slept for an hour & half. We were supposed to take him out to eat for supper, but we postponed until tomorrow since he wasn't feeling well. Hopefully tomorrow will be better & we can get him feeling up to par for his party on Saturday.

Sleepy day

When your 4 year old goes to sleep before lunch without even asking him lay down, you know he is tired. I laid Kensley down for a nap this morning around 9:30. She woke up around 10:15... ugh! I waited a few minutes to go get her & I'm so glad I did. She went back to sleep, so I decided to take a nap too. Carter & I had been drawing pictures & he was upset because his wasn't as good as mine, so he stormed into his room to pout. So I laid on the recliner & thought I would get some shut eye in while things were quiet. Next thing I know, I hear Kensley wake up & it's 11:45! Now I'm wondering where Carter is & what he's been doing since I fell asleep. I'm looking around the house & looked in his room & he's on his bed asleep! I even got the kids in bed on time last night & went to bed at 10:30 myself. What gives? I'm still trying to catch up after all of those really late nights of staying up working on cards. Speaking of late, I guess I need to get in bed now. I've been having to get up & get Chandler to school this week & it's hard when you are not a morning person. Corby is usually here to do all of that. I'm usually up at that time, but not dressed, feeding kids & fixing lunches.

Chandler's birthday is tomorrow. He will be 7! ... Post a comment for him. I'm sure he would love reading them.

A Weekend in Statesville

We had a great weekend in Statesville. It was a full weekend, but everyone had a great time. The kids always love when they are with their cousins. Friday when we got to Statesville, there was a brush fire down the road from MamMaw's house. Chandler & Carter got to see the fire trucks come by & watch them hose down the fire. (it wasn't a big fire... but Chandler is a firetruck junkie & loved it). Saturday was the baby shower for Corby's sister Amanda. We had a good crowd & great food. Saturday afternoon everyone (except me, Kensley, Amanda, Preston & Lauren) went to the the Lazy 5 ranch in Mooresville. We've all been there before, but it's been a while & my kids freaked out last time we were there. Corby said they were much better this go round & were interested in petting the animals. We had a big cookout/birthday party Saturday night. After supper, my in-laws came up with a scavenger hunt. Each family had to participate. It was so much fun & I haven't laughed so hard in a while. Everyone was running around like crazy & I was trying to, but since I am so well endowed in the northern hemisphere of my body, I was running around holding my boobs so I didn't beat myself to death. The worst part was it's on video!!! They also had a water balloon launcher & were seeing who could launch them the furthest & who they could hit. We had planned on a bonfire & campout Sat night. But since it's been so dry & especially since there was a fire right down the road the day before, we decided to do that part another time. Sunday everyone went to church & we hung around the house for the afternoon. Wanda had stuff for all the kids to decorate safari hats. The kids played with water balloons & soaked each other while the adults sat on the porch and relaxed... it was nice.
