The Messer & Field Day

Kensley has hit the phase where she messes all of the time. She's going to be just like Carter. The thing is, now that she's the 3rd, it really doesn't bother me that much. If it's not hurting her or damaging something, I'm pretty much cool with it. I heard Kensley in the boys room the other day playing. It sounded like the drawers kept opening & closing, but I assumed it was one of the boys. No, no. Here comes Kensley walking down the hall with a wad of shirts in her hands and a big smile on her face. I went and looked in their room and there were about 5 or 6 more shirts laying in the floor. Apparently, she kept opening & closing the drawer and pulling out a shirt every time she did.

Then a couple days later, I was on the computer & heard her in the drawer under the oven. Carter used to love to play here, so I knew what she was doing. She sat there & pulled out pans for about 30 min. She pulled them ALL out & was trying to fit them back in as well.

The boys had field day today. I've never had a chance to go to one since Chandler's been in school. It was a lot of fun! I had no intentions of staying out there the whole day, but I did. The had different stations to visit every so often, they broke for lunch and then came back & did a tug of war between each grade level. That was really cute. Neither of the boys classes won, but they had fun. Here's some pics from today.
Chandler is the boundry line... with the cone on his head.
Carter & his buddies all got a spider painted on their face.

The sweet heart of a child

My kids have done some really cute & sweet things in the past couple days. Kind of makes you forget about all the frustrating stuff and just want to love on them. Kensley has started saying thank you when you give her something. It's not just once in a while, it's every time. I gave her breakfast this morning and she says "kink yooooo"... I give her snack, same thing, and on and on. It is SO adorable. I'll have to get it on video and post (...along with her dancing too). Yesterday, Chandler was saying his bedtime prayers and he asked the Lord to place his hands on his PapPaw Dwayne as he's traveling far away so He will keep him safe... ah, that was touching. We went to Gastonia this afternoon and saw a wreck happen that involved several cars and a man on a motorcycle. I don't think the man was hurt bad because he was walking around, but Carter was very concerned about him. So tonight when they were praying, Carter prayed that God would help that man who was in the wreck that he wouldn't have a big cut and the other car that was hit too... thank you that the engine did not explode. How sweet is that...and funny about the engine thing too. This was not something that I prompted or reminded them to do, it was on their hearts.

I can totally tell that Chandler "gets it" being a Christian and is growing in his faith more and more. He frequently discusses what they learn in church and reminds all of us when we need to be more aware of what the Bible says we should do and that we should read our Bible more. (That's good accountability coming from an 8 year old) I can also tell that Carter is becoming more aware of what it means to be a Christian and he has asked several times how do you become one. I pray that he will make that decision one day.

Happy Birthday Chandler!

My oldest son turned 8 yesterday. That seems weird saying that I have an 8 yr old. He's been very excited about turning 8 because in 7 or 8 more years, he'll be 15 and can get a job... as a firefighter (that's what he says). We'll seen in 7 more years what he really thinks about getting a job. Kids grow up so fast and sometimes I wonder where time has gone. I look at Kensley who will be 2 in the fall and think "Didn't I just have her?"

Chandler is a great kid. He has a kind heart and is very sweet and thoughtful. He loves to be creative and can come up with some great ideas. He's a ham and likes for people to think he's funny... (wonder where he gets that from... hmmmmm?) but doesn't want to be too much in the spotlight because he gets embarrassed. He looks & acts more & more like Corby everyday. He's a great big brother to Kensley and most of the time to Carter too. I had lunch with him on Friday & took brownies to his class. Sat. morning the boys woke up to balloons in the doorway and a new tv/dvd for their room. That was a combined present for the both of them. We didn't really do anything special yesterday, but we did go to a wedding last night & they had a special dance in honor of his birthday. Their party will be in a few weeks. We took him to his favorite restaurant today for lunch, Mi Pueblitos.

So here's to my first born.... Happy Birthday "Shama" (that's what he used to call himself when he was little).

*I just saw that I have 200 posts now....wow, that's a lot of writing. *
