Bread "Limb"

Today is our anniversary.. well, technically it was yesterday (I'm posting after midnight) but I haven't gone to bed yet so it's still today. We've been married 11 years. Wow, that seems like a really long time. Corby called me this afternoon & said to be ready by 5pm. No details, just be ready. So I'm ready & I found out that he had lined up babysitters for the kids & we were going out to eat & to a movie. Our babysitters, Carl & Heather, were some friends from college that are in town for a few weeks. They kept the kids for us while we went to eat & saw Evan Almighty... great movie by the way.

When we got back all the kids were in bed & we all played board games until just now. It was SO much fun! We used to get-together with them on a regular basis & play BK (before kids). Then they moved to TN & we don't get to see them much anymore. Heather & I have a standing win against Carl & Corby in the game Pictionary. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's a game of draw a picture & guess the answer. The guys have NEVER beat us in this game and I don't think they ever will. We like to rub it in! Corby & Carl have some great stories of things that they drew & couldn't guess. One of the best ones of all time was the word "country music". Carl drew a music note, a great city, marked it out & drew a country scene with a barn & animals... very elaborate & details... very obvious it was country music. Corby kept guessing over & over "no city music.... no city music". We laughed about that forever & still talk about it to this day. Well, we had another moment tonight. The word was "bread stick". Yet again, another simple word. Carl drew a piece of bread & he guessed that. Then he drew a tree & Corby guessed tree. Then he drew stick. Corby guessed limb. He pointed to the bread & stick & Corby guessed "bread limb"... he we go again! We all started laughing so hard we could barely get through that round. He never did guess "bread stick". Needless to say, Heather & I smoked them yet again. Somethings never change. It was nice to spend time with them & took me back a few years ago to how much fun we had.

A trip to Concord Mills

The thought of taking 3 kids shopping for a whole day stresses me out... especially if it's by myself. I went today to get Kensley's car seat at Concord Mills. I was kind of excited because I haven't been there in so long, but then again... I was taking 3 kids shopping. They did GREAT! I was so proud of them. The boys took turns pushing the stroller & riding in it too.. I had the sit & stand. Kensley didn't fuss at all. We walked around a while & I let the boys play in the play area while I fed Kensley, we had lunch, ice cream & rode the merry-go-round & shopped some more. Right when we were getting ready to leave Kensley started fussing a little, but she was tired & fell asleep right away when we got in the car. We stopped at the airport on the way home & watched some planes land and take-off. I even got in a quick trip into Sam's for a few things.

I meant to post this Sunday night... it's funny. We had a church-wide social at Challenger 3 on Sunday night. The preacher announced it Sunday morning and also said that for some reason every year they have it, it rains. We went last year & it had just rained before we got there. On the way there, I could tell the clouds were rolling in and it was starting to thunder. We got through the food line & the bottom dropped out. Everyone was sitting under a big picnic shelter, but still we were outside in the midst of it all during a severe thunderstorm. Lightning was cracking left & right & we even saw one strike hit a tree & knock a limb off. It was loud! I asked the boys on the way home if they were scared and Carter said in his country voice "i was a little bit, but I just sucked it up".... I busted out laughing.

Say bye-bye to slow internet

We've finally made the crossover... we now have DSL. I was so excited to get a great deal and I have anticipated my set-up package in the mail since last week. Today was the lucky day & let me just say that I love it! I kept my email open this afternoon while I was working around the house & I kept scurrying to the computer every time I heard the little chime when you get a new email message. That could be bad...I may not get anything done for a few days. Nonetheless, it's great to be able to email attachments, open pictures & video & download in just a few seconds. I also was loving it while I was talking on the phone & downloading something at the same time. Woo, hoo!! So for you that I've told, don't send photos attachments.... send them on now baby!!!

I also had another pleasant surprise today. I stayed up really late last night in search of a car seat for Kensley. I've been back & forth for a couple months now. I found one that I liked at Wal-Mart, but not really any reviews about it. I found another one that I liked much better with great reviews, but couldn't find it in any stores... anywhere. I called all over Charlotte & no one carried it. I had just about decided to go back to my original choice. I just didn't feel like I could order a car seat online without looking at it first. I'm anal about some things & I needed to see it & touch it to make sure I liked it first. In one last attempt this morning, I called Baby Depot AND they carried it... AND they only had one left... AND it's cheaper than most places online.. another WOO HOO is deserved there. So, me & the kids are heading to Concord Mills tomorrow to pick it up... that is, assuming that I like it.
