Happy Birthday to my baby girl!

Well, it's here... my baby is 1 today. It really seems like this past year just flew by. I put together a scrapbook tonight of the past year. I've taken her picture every Wednesday for 52 weeks... (honestly, I can't believe that I remembered each week)...and put them in a scrapbook & wrote a letter to Kensley in the back. It's so sweet and so amazing to see how much she's grown over the past year.

We didn't do anything special today... except sing to her... because we are having her birthday party on Saturday here at the house. I can't wait to see if she likes the cake. She eats anything, so I bet she will dig in, but neither of the boys liked theirs, so we'll see.
(**she's sporting one of her presents from a friend in these pictures... a Barbie crown... I LOVE it!)

Flashback to the 90's

A friend emailed me this picture today.
HILARIOUS! This was the band I was part of in high school. We were a Christian band... I guess you could say cover band because all we sang were other's people's stuff. We first started out as New Life Crew... very cheesy name. We played tracks & pretended to play instruments along with it, but we actually did sing. Then, a few of them left & we became a little more talented & actually started playing the instruments and sang. We changed our name to Basic Faith & even had t-shirts & sold them at the concerts we did. Yes, we had concerts... we sang at youth rally's/events, high school functions and we even opened up for a hard rock Christian band... can't remember the name of them though. I was one of the singers... mostly I did back up singing. It was really a lot of fun. I think we were pretty good, but hey, that was 15 years ago...I would love to see a video of something we played.

You might be a redneck if....

(Sorry it's been such a while since I've posted last. It's been a really busy week & time to sit down at the computer just slips away. I haven't been staying up late this week and that's my normal time to sit down to blog & check out my other computer stuff. So anyway.... back to the title.)

...you yell at the top of your lungs when you see mud sling at a demolition derby. (Carter used to call it the "lish-un bu-derdy" until he learned how to pronounce it correctly...so cute) That's what we did Friday night. The fair started last week here in Cleveland County. The boys talk about it every year & look forward to it, especially the derby. I must admit, I get pretty excited about it too. We've been anticipating this for a month now when we see the advertisements around town. Let me just tell you what a big deal the fair is around here. The Clev Co fair is the largest in North Carolina.... really, it's advertised that way. Everybody & their Daddy comes out for this thing. Our Sunday School teacher told us last year that he was reading statics on the fair here & one of them is that people actually go to the bank & get a loan for money to spend at the fair. (That's pretty red!) Anyway, it's packed every night & the demolition derby always sells out. They even have 2 nights of the derby. The city has had to purchase a lot of extra land to park all the cars that come out and they have tractor rides to & from your car. If you are not from around here or have never been to the fair, it's an experience you won't forget & you really have to come to appreciate the "grand"ness of it. Okay, so enough of that.

Back to the derby. Me & my friend Shannon went to a consignment sale Friday afternoon, so Corby took the boys on early to get a seat in the grandstand. They got there at 6:30 & the place was packed already. I got there around 7:45 and there was not an empty spot in the whole place. They had about 6 or 7 heats... that's what they call them... and we sat there with the boys for every one of them (my Mom was here to keep Kensley...although we saw plenty of people with babies out there... I won't get into that). They were tired, but not tired enough to go home. Carter even fell asleep during the final heat... how I don't know, because it is SO loud in there & it stinks. We come out smelling like smoke and whatever fumes those old cars put out. We even got to see a couple cars catch on fire... that's pretty cool too (no one was hurt).

Last night we went to the GWU game. That's 2 nights in a row that my Mom kept Kensley. It seemed so easy just having the boys! Anyway, the boys like to watch the football game too and all the excitement of being at the game. Of course, popcorn and Cheerwine is pretty exciting too... to a 7 & 5 year old.

I'll try to do better this week with my blogs. Another exciting week... Kensley turns 1 on Thursday.
