What's going on this week

Yay! School is officially out for the summer. Chandler went in Friday morning, picked up his report card & we came home. I thought I would feel less stressed, but it hasn't happened yet. It's only been a few days & my boys are already at each other's throats. I've already threatened that if they don't get along that I'll send them to summer camp every day this summer & we won't go anywhere or do anything fun. Chandler cleverly came back with the response... "well, camp is really fun Mom." Oh well for my theory. I'll just have to keep them occupied this summer with lots to do so they don't get bored. Lord knows if boys get bored, something is gonna happen.

Chandler got his glasses... he's had a little trouble getting used to them, but he looks really cute in them. Kensley has been very happy this week & just so stinkin' cute. She LOVES to stand & wants to all of the time. She's getting better balance & can catch herself when she starts to fall. Corby put her on her belly to try to get her to crawl & she pushed herself backwards & fussed the whole time.

Chandler's class, along with the whole first grade, went on a field trip on Thursday to the Broad River Greenway. It was a lot of fun. I've never been there before & it was nice. We'll definitely have to visit there this summer. They had class awards & Chandler got the Hardest Worker award. His teacher said that he is always willing to do whatever anyone needs. They sang some songs about North Carolina, went on a nature trail, had a picnic lunch & got to play on the playground. This is a picture of him with his teacher's Mrs. Hamrick & Mrs. Snellings.

Today we went to a friend's birthday party. It was a pool party, so the boys were really excited about that. They are little fish. Chandler learned to swim last summer & he picked it right back up again this summer. They were both jumping off the diving board into the deep end & swimming all around. Carter had on arm floats of course, but still, that's pretty good I think for both of them.

Standing by the tub

Kensley is getting much closer to pulling up. Today, she made it... with only a little help from me. She's standing by the tub. It's the perfect height for her & she really thinks she's big stuff. her little toes were gripped as tight as could be to the rug, but she did it. She would fall into my lap & try to pull back up again. She even inched her way down the tub a few steps, but ended up with crossed legs & not able to stand very well.

Carter had a big time in the front yard today. We got out the slip-n-slide & that's always fun for my kids. He went on his bottom, on his belly, on his back, backwards & any other way he could go. Chandler was on his way outside, but stepped on a bee & got stung on the foot, so he didn't participate much. Only 2 more days of school...yippie!

Another month older

Summer is here!!!! Yes, I know it's been hot for a while, but Chandler came home from school today with no more homework or reading! Yay! it's official now. They are basically playing this week. They had field day today & we have a trip to Broad River Greenway on Thursday. I'm looking forward to that. We had a nice weekend & finally some rain. Corby & the boys went to see Shrek yesterday.
Kensley is 8 months old today. She is growing up so fast. She's feisty as ever, but a good kid. She's still not mobile or anywhere close. She's lazy & everyone gets her what she wants so she really has no reason to be mobile. I'm not complaining though. She's starting to try & pull up if I help her hold onto something. She thinks she's big stuff when that happens. I gave her Cheerios for the first time today... it's was hilarious! It took her a minute to figure out how to get it to her mouth & then when she did, she made a horrible face & gave one of those "heebie-jeebie" shakes. She kind of gagged a little & then went back for more. I guess it will take her a while to get used to something hard & texture in her mouth. I don't remember the boys being that way though.
