I feel the need to be crafty

Every once in a while I get the urge to make my cards, scrapbook or do something crafty. I usually never get to it right away...i wonder why... & the need grows more & more everyday until I can make time for it. Well, today, I've made the time. However, I've yet to do anything. It's been a work in progress today. All day long I've done something to prepare, like clear the table, clean the table, get out my stamps, organize the piles of stamps, etc. So tonight I am really looking forward to sitting down to make some gift bags. I know it sounds strange, but to those who like to be crafty as well... you understand.

I love Thursdays. I know we still have one more day left until the weekend, but it's preparation for me. The boys played outside all afternoon with the neighbor. I just love her... she's great with the boys & she keeps them entertained while I get stuff done during what is usually the most stressfull time of the day for me. They played camp out & zoo today.

This morning, I went shopping at the yellow malls in Gaffney with a friend. I had a coupon to the OshKosh outlet. Let me just say how hard it is to use restraint when shopping for Kensley. Granted, my restraint is most often lack of funds. I picked up about 10 things & kept putting stuff back because I found something I liked more. Girls clothes are SOOOO cute! We got home & I tried stuff on her & it's just so adorable. I got her the most adorable bathing suit & beach/sun hat. I'm going to a consignment sale tomorrow night. I'm sure I'll be bad again. I have a busy weekend ahead, but looking forward to it.

Carpets, lunch & homework matters

We had the carpets cleaned today. I feel cleaner already. Although the smell is still faint in the boys room, it's way better than before they were cleaned. Me & Carter wasted time in Wal-Mart this morning, then went to MiPueblitos or Mito Pleetoes as Carter calls it for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised to find two friends there & we joined them. It was a nice time. They had their babies as well (1 year & 7 mths) & me with Kensley & Carter. I must say that we were the topic of conversation to everyone who walked by. They probably thought we were crazy trying to have a civlized lunch with all those kids! ha!

I have to complain about homework for a minute. I'll admit, I really didn't expect 1st grade to be such a huge difference from Kindergarten. I don't know why, but I thought we would ease our way into it. Not the case... it was full force from day 1. Anyway, we kept Chandler out of school yesterday to recover. I know he enjoyed being home, but all I could think about was the butt-load of homework he would have today. I don't know if it's just his teacher (who I do like by the way) or 1st grade requirements, but he has to make up EVERYTHING... nothing slides by. I hate homework any day of the week. I just think it's unfair to make a young kid.. or any school aged child for that matter... sit in class for 6 hours a day & then come home to do an hour or more worth of homework. Gimmie a break!!!! They are just kids. I don't remember doing so much homework that young & I turned out just fine. Anyway, he came home with 11 pages of homework today!!!!! Needless to say, we spent the whole afternoon as soon as he got home to finish it all before we left for church. Ugh!!!!

The smell of spring

I loved opening all the windows today. I love the smell of spring & the way it makes my house feel. Something about the breezes I guess. Although, we don't have screens in our house, so we get lots of bugs. Fortunately, it's still early spring, so it wasn't too bad today. Carter & Chandler ran around all day with fly swatters, trying to kill gnats. Carter kept fussing wanting me to close the windows, but I refused. Mainly because our house doesn't smell so springs right now. Everyone is well today, but the smell of vomit reeks in our house... especially the boys room. I called Chem Dry first thing this morning & they worked me in at 9:30 am tomorrow.... yay!

My baby girl reached another milestone today.. she rolled from back to front. She's so lazy... has not been interested at all in rolling either way really, but she did accomplish the front to back roll a few months ago. I have noticed the past few days that when she sleeps, she's on her side. So it made me think she might be getting close. I've laid in front of her with video camera for 10 minutes at a time for the past month waiting to capture the moment & she never performs, so I just gave up. Wouldn't you know that today, I walk out of the room with her on her back & return to find her on her tummy & all smiles.

I spent the whole day cleaning again. We threw out lots of stuff last night (both of us refusing to clean the vomit from it), so I'm going to make a run to Wal-Mart tomorrow. The main thing I need to replace is my mini-vac. I've had 2 Shark Cordless vacs & they both died. Then I got the Dirt Devil one & didn't really care for it... main reason we decided to trash it. So now I'm debating what to get next. I've seen one of those infomercials for the Swivel Sweeper and thinking of getting one of those. Anyone have any suggestions?

You wanna guess???

Yep... it has arrived again. At least we've all had it now. Chandler said he didn't feel good before he went to bed. We even prepared by putting a trash can by his bed. He didn't hit it. He tried... but it went everywhere... on the wall, in the bed, on some toys, but primarily on the floor. Ya know, something you just can't put in the washing machine or disinfect. I'll be calling the carpet cleaners tomorrow. It was so bad, we threw away the sweeper vac we used to clean it up. Thank goodness for Corby. He's the one who cleaned this time. I just couldn't muster up enough upmfh to do it without throwing up myself. Our house reeks with "stank" right now. I can't wait until the morning when I can open all the windows and air this place out. I'm going to try & get some sleep. He's due another puke any time now.

My washing machine is tired

...and so am I. We made it through today pretty well. No more vomit... at least for now. I've re-washed everything... AGAIN. My machine has been going for 2 days straight. I just heard the dryer buzzer go off a few minutes ago.

Carter gave us a scare a few hours ago. He woke up crying. Not sure what he wanted to do. First it was poop, then it was cry, then it was poop again (which he never did)... he stumbled around the bathroom and sat on my lap a few minutes, then he ended up on the couch & fell back asleep. False alarm... whew! He's in the floor on his blow up bed in our room. I hate that thing. Every time he moves it makes this awful noise. At least he's close by. Hopefully we can all sleep peacefully tonight. I'm sleepy. I've got MOPS in the morning so I need some rest.

Stiiiiirike 3....

Well, we didn't make it. The vomit strikes again. I spent the whole day yesterday cleaning & washing sheets, bed covers, mattress covers, Lysoling everthing to prevent this junk from spreading. I stayed up late last night ironing clothes for church & getting everything ready for Sunday because we always seem to be in a rush. I was actually planning on going early so I could sing with the praise team. But, as Carter was going to bed he said he didn't feel good. I was a little nervous. Kensley woke up around 3am, so I got up with her & put her back down. Then just as I was getting cozy & comfy in bed, I hear him every so softly... "Daddy" in a whimpery little voice. I poked Corby & he didn't budge, so I got up. I went in there to check on him & he appeared to be asleep. I stood there for a minute then he started getting restless. I felt it coming. I'm trying to get him out of the bed & he's dead weight. Mind you, he's on the top bunk too. Our bunk beds are monstrously tall, so it's not an easy feat to pick up 40 pounds from the top bunk. As I'm trying to manuever him to the edge of the bed, he pukes. I yelled because it splattered all over me & on my face.... YUCK! Corby obviously was aware of what was happening by now because he comes barreling in the boys room, slings open the door as if he were announcing... "ta-da... super Daddy is hear"... he flips on the light, throws the bedrail in the floor & whisps Carter to the bathroom. I'm still standing on the ladder covered in puke amazed at how quick he moved so early in the morning. Poor Chandler was traumatized I think. All he knew was that he was peacefully sleeping in his bed & all of a sudden at 3:30 am... lots of noise, commotion & lights! Well, we finally get Carter cleaned up & put him in our bed because it's closer to the bathroom & you don't have to climb a ladder to get in it. I cleaned up his bed, changed my clothes & did a load of laundry before I landed on the couch. Just as all was settling down, he threw up again. Still didn't make it to the bathroom. Corby said he sat up in bed & was like "Daddy I don't feel... bluh!!!" Okay, it's 4am at this point & I've already done one load of laundry and here I go again. We cleaned up again, changed sheets & this time I told Corby that the trash can needs to go in the bed. From there on out, it was every hour on the hour that he wakes up to throw up. At least it was all contained to the trash can or toilet these times. The last time I heard him was around 6. I was hoping to sleep in a little since we had such an eventful night, but Kensley did not cooperate. She was up before 7 & pretty fussy. I can't wait to take a nap today! Carter seems to be feeling better this morning. He begged for Cheerios for breakfast, so we gave them to him. Hopefully he will keep them down.
