Fart Time

Once in a while, my husband says some really funny things & this is one of them that I just had to share. We were on our way to Hickory last night & he got a call on his cell phone. It was someone that was looking for a job at the Y. Fortunately, he knew this person, so it wasn't too embarrassing. Anyway, as he was asking several questions about this job, he was trying to find out if he was looking for full-time or part-time. However, my husband & his brain that runs 90 miles an hour, it came out... "are you looking for fart time". He quickly recovered with, "sorry, i meant full-time or part-time". After laughing about that for a minute, we analyzed the true meaning of this new employment status. We've concluded that "fart" time is not quite full-time, but more than part-time.... in case you every need a job at the Y.

Baby Poop... (not what you think)

I really don't remember how I stumbled across this website, but I was reading a bunch of blogs last night & found this link on one of them. I put the link to this t-shirt in particular because it's HILARIOUS!!!... and so true. What a genius. Mind you, I probably wouldn't pay that much for a shirt for my kid, but it's a great idea I wish I would have thought of. Isn't it crazy how people always say... "how simple, I could have done something like that"... after the fact. Just like the whole Baby Einstein craze...which has turned into way too much "stuff" now. Anyways, I'm guilty of the same thing. Maybe one of these days I'll have a light bulb moment & become rich. Here's for dreaming.

Happy 4th!

We had a great day today. Everyone was home & we spent the day as a family. I cooked breakfast this morning... bacon, eggs, homemade biscuits & gravy...mmmmm. Then we had to go to the church for a short while for Corby to do some stuff for VBS. Then we had lunch & went to the Shelby City Park. They had some free inflatables & the train & carousel were free. Kensley had her first ride on the merry-go-round & train. Then we came home & swam for a long time in the neighbors pool.

Carter had mentioned that when he turned 5 he would swim without arms floats. So, Corby reminded him of that today. It took A LOT of convincing and lots of crying later.... Carter is swimming on his own! He did SO good! I knew once he tried, he would be able to do it & build up his confidence. He still can't touch the bottom of the pool, but he's close enough to bounce up off the bottom long enough to get a breath. Once he started, he was everywhere like he's been swimming a long time. We are very proud of him. Unfortunately, I didn't have the camera with us. I'll get some pics later & add them.

Kensley is 9 months today! She is such a good baby. She has her moments & she's pretty spastic sometimes when you hold her, but she is so laid back & just goes with the flow all of the time. She says ma-ma, da-da, bubba, nigh-nigh & growls a lot... along with a lot of other baby jibber-jabber. She eats really well and has figured out how to hold the sippy cup on her own & get something out of it. She is sleeping through the night (well, except for this week... she's had a cold or something) and takes great naps during the day. She is starting to walk when you hold her hands. She loves to stand. She still can't quite get the pulling up yet, except for the bathtub, because that's the only thing she can reach. She is so close to crawling, but just won't make the plunge. She will get one leg behind her & kind of lung over, but when you think she's going to do it, she pushes back over & sits down.

A last bid farewell & some other stuff

We are done with fish. All of them have kicked the bucket and are in fish heaven. FYI... never buy fish at Wal-Mart. Yeah, they may be cheap, but they don't live very long. Wal-Mart is great for most things, but pets are not their forte.

So by the way, I LOVE the new car seat that I wasted countless hours searching & worrying over. I highly suggest it if you are in the market for a new one. It's the Fisher Price Safe Voyage & it's made by Britax... but about $100 less. The material isn't quite as plush & apparently there are some other perks this one doesn't have, but I like it a lot.

Kensley is growing up so fast. She will be 9 months this week. Agh!!! It's going by too fast. Anyway, her new thing this week is licking herself. When she eats, she always sucks her thumb in between bites. Obviously she gets food on her hand and when she is done, she licks herself until she's clean. Then, she started licking in the bath. She gets bubbles on her hand or soap & she looks at her hand, licks it, then smiles. It's hilarious! I'll post more about her "new" feats later on.

Happy Birthday to Carter

Today is Carter's birthday. He is 5... wow! I can't believe it. He woke up this morning to a big birthday banner on his wall & a birthday present... a motorcycle (he loves motorcycles). When he went to bed last night he told me "in the morning, I think I can touch in Tony's pool" (Tony is our neighbor). I told him that he might grow overnight since he would be five. When he got up, he came into the bathroom while I was getting ready & said "i don't think i growed". We went to church this morning & Corby took the boys to the movies this afternoon to see Ratatouille (sp????).

The boys are going to camp this week. I am going to work on my scrapbook all week. I am so far behind. My new favorite thing is the storybooks from Creative Memories. I've seen them, but not really thought much about it before. Now that we have good internet, I downloaded the free template & I've worked on it every night. It is so much fun & so much cheaper than doing an album. I don't plan on doing this every year, but I need to catch up so bad, so I think I am going to make 2007 a digital scrapbook.
