Umm... where did the year go?

Am I the only one that thinks this year has flown by?  I mean, it's May 1... really?  Seems like the kids just started school a couple months ago.  Carter was asking the other day when he would turn 7.  I told him Chandler's birthday was in a few weeks & then his birthday was 5 weeks after that & then we would be going to the beach a couple weeks after that... and then school starts back a couple weeks after that !?!   What?  I just spoke the whole summer away in one sentence.

I remember vividly when I started thinking time was flying by.  It was the summer after my freshman year in college.  I remember going to the beach with some of my girlfriends and thinking "wow, this year really went by fast".  Since then, it feels like a couple blinks... but reality is that it's been 15 years!  I know the older you get the faster time flies, but man.

Speaking of college. I'm going to a college-reunion-sort-of tomorrow.  A group of us connected via Facebook & one of the girls said "let's get together"... so we are!  I am so excited!  It's been probably 12 or more years since I've seen some of these people.  Don't worry, I'll take plenty of pictures... for those of you that care :-)

Speaking of pictures... here's a few from last week.
Transportation Day at the preschool... Kensley & John Michael with one of our friend police officers, Mark
This is our small group (minus one couple).  We had our final meeting last Sunday night... a cookout & we had a blast.

For more viewing pleasure...

...I present the second installment of Kensley performing. Well, today not so much in front of a crowd, but just me... Mommy. I laughed so hard & I could just eat her up.

By the way, she's singing "Down by the station, early in the morning, see the busy trucks all in a row, hear the truck driver calling to the passenger, honk, honk, honk & off we go". No so much those words, but that's what it's "supposed" to say, or at least what I sing to her. The second song is Twinkle, Twinkle little star & the other songs are from her princess book that she tries to sing to, but yet again, words are not exactly there yet. Lastly, an encore performance from the preschool program of the Joy song.... Kensley's edit.

Enjoy!

Preschool Chapel Program

Kensley LOVES preschool. She thrives in it & I'm so glad. She's a very outgoing little kid & has come out of her shell a good bit in the past months since starting school. Last week the preschool did a program for the parents of all the songs they've been learning in chapel. Kensley loves to sing and has practiced a good bit at home. Here's a video of her program.
(Sorry, it's a little long... )

Who decides this?

I came across a link today that sparked my interest. The title is

Pure Torture on the Ears

10 songs that make your ears beg for mercy.

And one of the songs listed is "We Built this City" by Starship. Okay, that song does not make me beg for mercy... I loved that song back in the 80's and would still listen to it now! I think I remember it being on the movie "Mannequin" with Andrew McCarthy. I also liked their song "Sara"... I actually have it on on my iPod. So, I wonder... who makes these articles & why do they get to decide this?

Argh... blow me away me heartys!

Well, that title has really nothing to do whatsoever with my post, but it's so windy today, I just had to put it. On to more important matters... well, not really, but lets get on with this. Lots of random thoughts roaming around in my head today, so I will share.

I'm on twitter now. Not really sure what to do with it, but I'm there. I will tweet once in a while. Next.....

I've been randomly thinking about something that I pass everyday on the road to my house. At the end of one of the driveways of a house, there are 2 green gargoyles. ??? Really? I mean, do people really do that? It's not like they are cool & go with some kind of theme of the house, they are just there... red tongues & all. And it's really not even a driveway b/c the house is right on the road. This house also has a life-size knight in full body, on their front porch.... and restaurant-one-piece-tables in the front lawn. I seriously need to take a picture sometime. It all makes me think of Ghostbusters every time I pass by.
Next....

Spring break last week gave me some serious cravings for summer. The weather (minus the wind) being so pretty & something about the spring air.... I just love it! I'm ready for no homework & sleeping in.
Next....

Me & the family went to play golf last Friday. Rather amusing. I DON'T play golf, but I do try once in a while. It's more like I whiff a few times & then if I'm lucky, one of the whiffs catches the ball & it bounces a few yards out & then I try again. Here's some pictures:

Last.... Who's watching American Idol? It's getting down to the nail-biting time where I start to get mad because people are getting voted off. Yeah, I know there is only one winner, but still, it's so hard to see your faves in the bottom 3 and tonight, I'm really going to get stressed. My faves are Matt & Danny. I'm wishing that Anoop & Lil would get the heck outta there. I dislike Adam very much, but I know he's probably going to the end. I can't help that, but I can vote. I vote for my faves as many times as I can get through in a row. Paula has to be on somekind of meds because she's really weirding me out this year. Here stange comments & her shakeyness when they get a close up of her is ewwww to watch. So I'll be glued to the TV tonight to see who's going home. I hope my votes for Matt this week helped.

That's all for now. More pics from last week.

Just love those little pigtails...

Easter Weekend & slide shows

I took so many pics (who, me???) so I had to make 2 slide shows of our weekend. The first is Lazy 5 & the other is the rest of the Easter festivities.

Thursday after school, I had the boys do a scavenger hunt around the house for their Easter basket items. They really liked that. I just gave Kensley her basket because, well, she can't read for clues & it's hard enough for her to find eggs. After all the partying we had during the week, we continued on for the weekend. Me & the kids packed up & headed to Statesville for the weekend. We got there Friday night amidst all the down pouring rain we endured along the way. Then Saturday morning was my nephew, Preston's 2nd birthday (sorry, no pics of that), the afternoon we headed to Mooresville to the Lazy 5 Ranch where Corby met up with us for the rest of the weekend. The kids always love this place. Personally, I love to watch them & take pics, but I don't care to touch the animals. Yuk! You'll see why in some of the pictures. I swear they fed a Holstein cow that had a tongue that was 2 feet long! Saturday night the kids dyed eggs & then some very sleepy kids were off to bed. Sunday morning we got up & dressed in our (well, the kids at least) new pretty clothes & headed off to church. Sunday afternoon we enjoyed a wonderful lunch and MamMaw had planned lots of fun games & activities. We had an egg hunt, egg toss, 3 legged race & scavenger hunt. Oh & we celebrated another nephew's birthday too... Nathan is turning 5. Whew! There was plenty of corn hole for the men & some of the women too... I did participate in one game... and lots of fun just being with family.

(Unfortunately, I have a thing now when I visit family...I get sick. I started off Friday night with a sore throat which proceeded to get worse over the weekend & by Sunday I was feeling pretty bad. Stinks, I know. Carter had strep throat last week, so I'm afraid that I probably caught his germs. Corby came home Sunday night & was sick all day Monday with a stomach bug... maybe i gave him my "thing".)

Sunday night me & the kids packed up & headed to Granite Falls to my parents house. It rained the whole time we were there, but my Dad took a couple days off & the boys were plenty entertained helping him. By the way, I want to wish my Daddy a Happy Birthday last Saturday... love you Daddy! and my parents at Happy 35th Anniversary yesterday! Love you both!

Monday I was out of commission most of the day. I thought my throat was the size of a watermelon when I woke up Monday morning, so I laid low most of the day and Mom & Daddy entertained the kids all day for me. Finally after lots of meds, I felt a little better by the evening and finally got a good nights rest that night. Tuesday, it was still raining and the kids were getting bored, so we decided that we would do an indoor egg hunt for the kids. They loved it! Then in the afternoon Mimi & PawPaw took the boys to the Catawba Science Center in Hickory while me & Kensley stayed behind & took a nap. We headed home after supper Tues. night.

It was a nice time to spend with both families and already our spring break is almost over. I guess the rest of the week we will just hand around here & hope for better weather so we can get outside & have some fun. Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!

Kids Easter Parties 2009

We had a fabulous Easter.... busy, but fun. We started Easter week celebrations on Wednesday with Kensley's preschool party & egg hunt. Those little 2 yr old had so much fun finding eggs. The funny thing was that when the teacher said "go"... to go get the eggs... Kensley kept walking past them & had a frown on her face. She looked at me & said "I don't want no eggs" (or "ay-ughs-uh" which is her language) and then I told her there was candy in them. She picked one up, opened it & discovered the candy herself and then proceed to find as many eggs as she could. It was so funny! Then on Thursday, the boys had both of their class parties. Since they were both about the same time, I had to pull double duty with them. So I had a picnic lunch with Chandler & his class & then we watched Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (the "real" one with Gene Wilder... not the funky weird Johnny Depp version). Then I was off to Carter's class for a egg hunt & ice cream sundaes with his class. Here are a few pictures from our mid-week events.
