Picky eaters

Has anyone seen the commercial for Chef Boyardee advertising a full serving of vegetables in each can? It's great! I laugh out loud every time I see it. I guess because I can relate so well with this mom. It has a family sitting in the kitchen & the kid is eating ravioli. The dad picks up the can & says "did you know that..." before he gets anything else out the mom turns on the garbage disposal and gives the dad a look. Then he starts to repeat it again & mom cuts him off again by taking a wooden spoon & banging the pots & pans hanging above them. Then the dad gets ready to talk again & the mom "shhhh's" him and turns her fingers around her mouth likes she's turning a key and gives him the look again. The kid is just staring at the parents the whole time. At the end of the commercial it says something along the lines of "somethings are better left unsaid".

I don't know why I find this so amusing, but I guess with my picky family I'll do whatever I can to get my kids to eat nutritious food. If one kid says something negative, the rest of them same something negative & pretty much refuse to eat it. Last night for example, we had battles at the supper table. We have a rule in our house, you have to eat three bites of everything before you get up from the table. I made pork... Corby happened to mention that it was a little spicy, so therefore the boys chime in ...."it's too spicy, i don't want to eat it". Then Kensley comes along "too pie-see, i not eat it". Ugh! My theory is, if you don't like it, fine... but eat your three bites and keep your thoughts to yourself. There is a slim chance that your siblings may actually like it before they hear your negative opinion of it.

Randomness

I haven't stuck to my guns & posted like I should have the past few weeks. Honestly, I've played a lot of Wii here lately. Hate to admit it but it's true. I know the addiction will soon pass, but right now, I'm all about it. Most every night before we go to bed, Corby & I play at least 3 or 4 games. Now that's off my chest, onto other things.

Corby & I are doing a small group Bible study right now... Fireproof Your Marriage & reading The Love Dare. I must say that it's pretty awesome! Everyday, I'm enticed to read and see what that's day's challenge is. It's made both of us more aware of how we act & react to each other. On day 3 the challenge was to buy your spouse something to show that you were thinking of them. I am so happy to show you what I got at work that day:

This is me & Kensley after a shower. She wants to do everything that I do, so I had to "turbie twist" her hair up too. So cute!

I've been on a mission for a craft desk for a while. I leave all my stuff out so that I can work on cards & such as needed, but it's always a mess & I tend to leave stuff out instead of tuck it away in it's proper place in my closet. I was so happy to find this desk the other day at Big Lots; of all places. I've told several friends about it, so I wanted to post a picture of my new work area. I have everything organized & it takes up much less space than my other table.

The kids came home today. They had so much fun at Mimi & PawPaw's and the best part is, it snowed! Mom said the boys were in it the entire day yesterday. Kensley loved it too. Here's some pictures. I've got some video I hope to post soon too.

Man it's cold outside

We have snow! Okay, granted, it's not much, but it's white & covers the grass (mostly). I wish I could have seen it coming down, but I had to give it up last night at 1:15am & go to bed. The kids are still at my parents & they called last night very excited that it was snowing there. I hope they got enough to go sledding because my parents have a great place to sled.

On another note... I had my massage yesterday. One word... fabulous! This is the best massage therapist I know. If you are in the Shelby area, you need to check her out....http://simpletouchmassage.com/index.html

Silence

The kids are at my parents for a couple days. Woo, hoo!!!(... did i just type that out loud?) Seriously, I love my children more than anything, but everyone needs a break once in a while. I feel like a better Mommy when they come home because I've had a refresher. So I am fully taking advantage of this long weekend. Last night Corby & I went out to eat & saw a movie with some friends & it was fun. It's been so long since we've doubled dated... without kids. This morning I was standing looking out the window while eating my yogurt & I said, "it's really quite in here" and Corby said I had a huge smile on my face. Speaking of this morning, we had snow... but only for about 5 min and it didn't stick, but it was really pretty looking out the window for those few minutes. Okay, so for the rest of my agenda, I'm cleaning out junk stuff, finishing up a card job I've been working on, going for a massage and having some friends over for supper. And, I get to sleep in for the next couple days... glorious! My parents will probably be wiped out when they bring the kids back & I'll be ready to take them on again (that sounds like some kind of ball game or match... hee, hee!)

Kensley's prayer

Since Kensley started preschool, she has learned a prayer that they say before lunch each day. She's getting old enough now that she wants to say the prayer when we sit down to eat. However, she insists that "i do it myself" and here's what we get (usually minus the giggles & table slapping of her brothers)...
