Happy 4th!

We had a great day today. Everyone was home & we spent the day as a family. I cooked breakfast this morning... bacon, eggs, homemade biscuits & gravy...mmmmm. Then we had to go to the church for a short while for Corby to do some stuff for VBS. Then we had lunch & went to the Shelby City Park. They had some free inflatables & the train & carousel were free. Kensley had her first ride on the merry-go-round & train. Then we came home & swam for a long time in the neighbors pool.

Carter had mentioned that when he turned 5 he would swim without arms floats. So, Corby reminded him of that today. It took A LOT of convincing and lots of crying later.... Carter is swimming on his own! He did SO good! I knew once he tried, he would be able to do it & build up his confidence. He still can't touch the bottom of the pool, but he's close enough to bounce up off the bottom long enough to get a breath. Once he started, he was everywhere like he's been swimming a long time. We are very proud of him. Unfortunately, I didn't have the camera with us. I'll get some pics later & add them.

Kensley is 9 months today! She is such a good baby. She has her moments & she's pretty spastic sometimes when you hold her, but she is so laid back & just goes with the flow all of the time. She says ma-ma, da-da, bubba, nigh-nigh & growls a lot... along with a lot of other baby jibber-jabber. She eats really well and has figured out how to hold the sippy cup on her own & get something out of it. She is sleeping through the night (well, except for this week... she's had a cold or something) and takes great naps during the day. She is starting to walk when you hold her hands. She loves to stand. She still can't quite get the pulling up yet, except for the bathtub, because that's the only thing she can reach. She is so close to crawling, but just won't make the plunge. She will get one leg behind her & kind of lung over, but when you think she's going to do it, she pushes back over & sits down.
