Bachelorette: My take

Well, I'm just totally into this season of the Bachelorette. Didn't think I would be, but I am. Last season of the Bachelor, I found this blog and I've been keeping tabs with it this season so far. He's a pretty funny guy & pretty much on target. For those of you who watched last weeks episode of the "David & Juan" drama, this is a quote from this blog that I just can't stop laughing about:

Time for Mount David to begin eruption. Let’s make one thing clear at this point: David has been drunk in every scene so far this episode. I mean, REALLY drunk. You can tell by his speech, his tone, and the fact that it’s been taking him about ten seconds to complete a blink. Never a good sign.

Oh so very ture. I'm glad he's outta here tonight. A little surprised by Juan going home, but obviously she's suspecting something about him & gave him the boot. I know they producers only want you to see the most "dramatic" parts & they edit out a lot of what really happens to make you think something else happens, but seriously, I'm wondering why Jillian hasn't see some of the true stories of these guys. I guess they talk a good game & woo her enough that she over looks all of their fake stuff.

My picks for front runners right now: Jake, Reid & Kiptyn..... Jesse is getting better
I want them outta here: WES! & Foot-fettish Tanner
Eh... take em or leave em: Robby, Ed, Breakdance dude

If I didn't write their name down, they haven't really made an impression on me one way or another. I'm already wringing my hands to see what's going to happen next week.

Neat Teacher Thank You Idea

I know it's kind of last minute... but if anyone needs ideas for teacher thank you cards, this is what I did for my kids teachers. I can't take the credit for it (I got the idea from a Creative Memories website) but it's just too cute to keep to myself. My camera has a function called Color Accent where you can zoom in on one color & everything else in the picture is black & white. That's what I used, but apparently you can also take out the color except for the "thank you" writing if you use Storybook Creator. All I did was write "Thank You" in chalk on my driveway... i do suggest using brighter colored chalk... & take a picture of your kid beside of it. I added the other writing by inserting a text box & used the color picker to find the same color as the chalk. I printed mine & mounted them on cardstock to make it a little more firm & then wrote a personal message to the teacher on the backside of the cardstock. Wallah!

The Sickies

Oh, what a week. The sickies have plagued our house. I was looking forward to a great last week of school with field trip, field day, getting back into the routine of going to the Y again and then, what do ya know... other plans accommodate my days. Last weekend we had a choir social at the Kings Mountain State Park which was buried deep in the woods and we all got ate up by mosquito's... especially the kids. I think we counted 12 bites on Carter that night. Well, you know how you itch a mosquito until it bleeds & then it scabs up with a little red dot....Carter kept growing them, except under his clothes, which I thought was very odd. Every day he had a new bite on his belly or back. I had several people look at it & we all determined it was chiggars. Soooo, that was fine & dandy until Thursday morning he woke up with 2 more spots. I decided to take him to the doctor that afternoon after his field trip. I asked a friend of mine that's a nurse to take a look at him & she said it looked like the chicken pox to her, plus it was going around the school. GASP! Oh no... he can't have chicken pox b/c he was vaccinated for that.... could he? Well another friend was there & one of her kids was home with them, she took a look at it & confirmed it for me. It just never, ever, entered my mind that it could be chicken pox. We were on a field trip, I wanted to take him home, but he was so upset. The Lord took care of that for us b/c about 30 min. into the field trip the rain was pouring down on us so all the teachers decided to call it quits & go home. I called the dr. & looked it up on the internet & sure enough, we have ourselves a case of the chicken pox. The dr. said that the vaccine prevents chicken pox 75% of the time & the others who get it usually have a milder case. He's had it all week long & I had no clue. It didn't really itch, but all the spots were in the "heat" areas of his body & under his arm pits & couple had already scabbed up. Thankfully, Thursday was the last day of new spots & most all of them are scabbed over now. He never ran a fever or even itched bad at all, so I guess his was a mild case. Now I'm on the lookout for the other 2 kids. They've both been vaccinated too so I'm hoping they won't get it, but if they are going to get it, bring it on so we don't have to deal with this during the school year.

As if that's not enough. I started getting a sore throat on Wed. It got progressively worse each day until Friday I thought I was dying. I called the doctor & went in to check it out. Sure enough, I've got strep throat. The dr. even said I got the "WTOTW" award. I asked what that meant & he sais "worst throat of the week". He said it looked like raw hamburger in the back of my mouth. After getting my prescription filled, I went home & went to bed & have pretty much been there until this afternoon. This has totally wiped me out. I haven't felt this bad in a long time. My energy has been completely zapped & even just getting up to fix me a drink has made me tired. I did fix me & Kensley some supper tonight & that took every ounce of energy I had. I'm hoping by tomorrow that I'll start feeling better. I was looking forward to going to the pool this weekend & enjoying this summer weather, but instead, we've all been couped up inside.

I'm tired of sitting up at the computer to type up this post, so I'm heading back to the bed. Here's to wishing for a better day tomorrow.

Spring Pics

Spring pics of the kids. My friend Meagan got a new camera & we were testing it out. I think they turned out really cute.

Carter's many faces... continued

I've posted about this before. He's at it again. It's really self explanatory.

Clouds

We've had a lot of clouds around the past few days. Mostly full of rain & gray skies to go with it. But today, I went to pick up the kids after school and I saw something different. On our way home, I wished I had my camera. The skies were remarkable! They were Carolina blue with these gigantic pillowy clouds everywhere along the horizon. The sun came out & it was absolutely beautiful! As soon as we got home I snapped some pictures from our house.

Then as the evening progressed, the storm clouds filled the sky once again & the rained poured down for another couple hours. As I was getting Kensley in the tub & closing the blinds in the bathroom I looked out again & saw more beautiful clouds.

It's almost as if God were telling me.... "look at the magnificent things that I can create. If I can create something so beautiful in the sky, I can create even more in you." It's like God is showing his promise of love as the sun shines through these magnificent clouds. Yeah, sometimes our lives are clouded by all that is going on around us, but when you get a peak of the "SON" through those clouds it's an amazing & spectacular sight to gaze upon. Just like the Lord.

Happy Birthday Chandler!

Today my firstborn turned 9. 9! Wow, that's almost double digits and I'm having a little trouble soaking that in. He's getting so tall (at my chin now) and that means in the next few years he'll be passing on over my head. I'm having the boys official birthay party in June, but we like to celebrate for each kid on their day. We started a little early last night. We had some friends over for supper, so I whipped out a cookie cake. Today was church of course, but we went to eat lunch at McD's (his pick) and came home & he opened his present...FireStation Lego City...loved it & they've been working on building all afternoon & still working at the present. This afternoon we went to see Night At the Museum 2...cute movie, probably not as good as the first one, but that could be because we had a 2 year old that wouldn't sit still for most of it and there was a little distraction involved. We are just hanging out this evening at the house & looking forward to a day off tomorrow.
Chandler you are growing up so fast. You are such a good kid with a good heart & we love you so much!
