Busy week

Sorry it's been so long since my last post. It's been a crazy busy week. We took the kids to Disney On Ice Wednesday night courtesy of MamMaw Wanda & PapPaw Dwayne. I didn't take my camera b/c I was afraid they wouldn't allow them in & I didn't want to risk the chance of possibly having my brand new camera confiscated. We walk in and I think everyone who was there had a camera & snapped pictures the whole night... rats! All of Corby's family was there, so hopefully I can steal a few pics from them. The kids had a good time. Kensley kept asking where Mickey, Minnie, Goofy & Donald were. They started the show & would come out b/w acts, but really that's about it. ***Note: if you go to a Disney on Ice show, take a coat. It was FREEZING in there. Corby said "we should have had a clue... Disney on ICE.... ice should have given us a clue that it would be cold. ***

Carter had a funny this week. It may not be that funny to you reading this, but we laughed the whole way home when he said it. We go to small group on Sunday nights. Our hosts names are Ross & Hazel. Normally their grand-daughters keep the kids for us every Sunday night while we meet, but this week they were busy so Ross kept the kids for us (this couple run a daycare... he's great with kids). On the way home we were talking about what they did and said something about "Ross". Carter busts out "his name is FROST???" I about peed in my pants.

Kensley's birthday party

The party yesterday was lots of fun. Kensley had a great time & looked so cute dressed up like Minnie Mouse.
It's so cute to see her get so excited over characters. When your kids love something, you love it too. I made her a Minnie Mouse birthday cake with polka-dot cupcakes. It was funny because no one wanted to cut the cake, so we brought it home... looking the same way as it is here.
She got lots of girly presents and loved alll of them... dolls, some dress up clothes, winter clothes, shoes, bags, books, a doll house, and more. It's been fun to watch her play with everything the past 2 days.

Happy Birthday to Kensley!

Today, my baby girl turns 2... officially at 3:35 pm....I can't believe that 2 years ago, I was heading to the hospital, so anxious & excited to meet my baby girl. Where has the time gone? She is so much fun & having a girl has definitely been different than the boys. I LOVE my boys, don't get me wrong, but something about having a girl is just so much fun. (I may not be saying that when the teen years hit...ha!) I guess because we have more in common. She has the greatest personality, although I think the terrible 2's are making their grand appearance in the past couple weeks. She's pretty laid back & goes with the flow. She loves to get in the floor & play with her brothers & rough-house right along beside of them. She plays cars with them & pretends to shoot the bad guy when they break out the toy guns. She also loves her babies too. She loves to carry a pocketbook & talk on the pretend phone and play dress up. She loves to read & sing and I could go on & on.

She's having a Minnie Mouse birthday party today. Here's the invitation I created for her... she's wearing her Minnie ears & shirt and holding up 2 fingers b/c she can't do the normal "2". She has a Minnie costume to wear to her party today...thanks Mimi!... so I can't wait to get some shots of her in it.

Happy Birthday baby girl! We love you so much & can't wait to see what the Lord holds for you in the future.

Everyone else is doing it... so I did too! YearbookYourself.com lets you upload a picture & put your face into a time era. This is SO funny! I think I look so much like my mom in the 60's picture of me. Corby looks like such a dork with his old-timey photos & I never would have imagined what he looked like fat...ha! You need to give this a try if you haven't already. (I forgot what some of the years are on Corby's pics, but you get the idea)

Pics of Lake Lure

Our computer is still down & I'm struggling with that. I use the computer A LOT, so it's been like I've lost a lifeline....ha! Corby has been kind enough to bring home his laptop each evening for me to check email and do a few things. So if you email me & I don't respond in a day or two, you know why... sorry in advance.

Several people have mentioned about wanting to see my pictures from the mountains, so I'm going to post just a few & try to get the rest uploaded somewhere online so you can see them. They are really pretty!

We had a great message at church yesterday. Our pastor spoke about being stressed out... what causes it, how to deal with it, how to avoid it and I SO needed to hear it... you can watch the message here. Click on the sermon for September 28.

Well, that's a quick update for now.

Lake Lure Vacation

We went to Lake Lure for a long weekend. We left on Friday & came back Tues. afternoon. It was so pretty up there & we really forgot how close it is to us. My parents joined us for the week & we all stayed at a resort called Bald Mountain Resort & Spa...we didn't get to enjoy the spa part of it... too expensive. Anyway, we played at the beach in the lake, played putt-putt, in the indoor pool and went to Chimney Rock on Sunday. I was really looking forward to Chimney Rock because I have never been there, but when it came the day to go, I got all nervous. I'm terrified of heights. Chimney Rock Park...all on top of a mountain. I sucked it up & went on. The entrance to the park was at the bottom of the mountain & we had to drive about 4 or 5 miles to actually get to where you see the rock... up a very windy, narrow road. When we got there, we walked around a bit & checked out a cave & hiked the trail to the Hickory Nut Waterfall...it was pretty & a decent hike. It was only me, Corby, the boys & my Dad. Some of the trails were closed, but they were way too high for me, plus too hard for the boys. We also road the elevator up 26 stories to the top of the rock. When we got off, I wasn't sure if I was going to make it. We were SOOOO high up. We walked out of the gift shop to the walkway leading to the stairs to the rock. I chickened out & couldn't go. I sat at the bottom of the steps for a while & finally sucked it up enough to walk up the 42 stairs. Once I got up there, Corby took my picture, I took a really quick look around & I was back down the stairs in a flash. I thought I was going to throw up... but I DID IT! I even have a picture to prove it. Overall, it was really pretty, but not for me since I'm not into hiking on the edge of a mountain. The rest of the week, we just relaxed around the resort. Here's some pictures from our week. (PS... my computer crashed, so I couldn't do a cute movie w/music like I did from our last vacation.... posts will be few until I get my computer fixed)
***having problems postsing pics right now***

Kensley singing

Kensley obviously has a thing for singing songs at this stage in her life... (the ABC video). It's so stinking cute, I just have to post these. I am posting this one in honor of my Mom, "Mimi", who taught her this song....(she gets a little excited the 2nd time through):
Bore a little holey, don't know where, believe I'll bore a little holey right there! (all while making her hand go round & round to stick her finger in her belly button at the end. )
