I can spell Mommy

Okay, so Carter is in kindergarten. He's loving it by the way. He comes home every week having learned a new letter... or two. So the whole spelling thing is finally clicking and I can tell he's churning in his head sometimes thinking about words and sounds. Yesterday I was getting Kensley ready for bed & Carter comes up to me & says "I can spell energy Mommy". Okay, so how do you spell it? "N-R-G... energy!" (with enthusiasm) I thought about it a minute & technically, if you sound it out, he's right. Hilarious! Phonics is working for him.

My Happy Place

I've discovered something this week that takes me to a happy place. It's more like taking me back in time, but it does make me happy. I have several "happy place" feelings from time to time about various things....smells of changing seasons, looking at scrapbooks of college & my kids births, going to the beach. The one I discovered this week is that I love 80's & early 90's music and the feeling it brings to me. It takes me back to many fond memories of growing up... pretending to marry the New Kids on the Block with my friend Julie, playing with Cabbage Patch Kids, performing Bangles concerts (really lip syncing to the songs) in my living room in front of my parents, roller-skating in my carport at home, hanging out with my friends in parking lot after school, going to the community pool with friends & playing the jukebox... to name a few. I've ventured into the MySpace world & discovered playlists on people's pages. I've found that you can download songs to your myspace page or just create a playlist to listen to online... for free! It's so much fun to think about how I remember each song. I'll be jammin out tomorrow while doing my household duties all day.

I had this conversation about "Happy Places" with a friend yesterday. One of her happy places is Disney World. What is your "happy place"? Post some comments... I'm curious to know.

***Here's the link to my "happy place" songs if you are interested...scroll past the first few songs and get to the second half. (I've got a little bit of everything on there)

Ooops! I lied

It's not over. Today, Corby was home sick. He didn't have the pukes, but he felt like crap all day long & stayed in bed.... ALL day long. He was up several times in the night with the poops. For some reason, he never throws up when he gets it. I still have claimed "in the name of Jesus" that I will NOT have this. I'm sleeping in the living room tonight. Not taking any chances.

It's over..

Well, the pukes & poops have left the building. I prayed "in the name of Jesus" that they leave our house & we've all been good since Friday afternoon. I've washed so much laundry & cleaned & disinfected enough stuff to last the whole winter. I even went & bought some of the DanActive yogurt with the "immunoblah, blah, blah's" stuff in it. I hope it works. I'm going to drink it the whole winter to keep my immune system up & in check.

On a lighter note, Kensley cut another tooth this week...#3. I found it Friday as she was eating lunch. I was really surprised because it's on the bottom & not one of her top front teeth. They are so close & I've been waiting for them to pop through any day now, but nope, it's a bottom one. Odd. She loves to rub her gums & stick her fingers down her throat & gag herself. She did it Friday morning & puked all of her breakfast all over herself... I hope that's not a sign for the future...just kidding! Next week I hope to have some better posts & some pictures. Good night!

Round #3

Isn't this how I started this blog... writing about throw-up???? Carter couldn't miss out since his brother & sister had it, so it's his turn for the pukes. I'm running out of pillows and disinfectant and washing boat loads of sheets & towels. I REALLY hope we are done after tonight.

Round #2

"This time in the ring is Chandler Haneline....7 years old & not feeling well right before bedtime"
.... I feel like this is my life, in a boxing ring sometimes. What's the next challenge I will face? Last night was Chandler's turn for the throw-ups. Man, I really hate this. Who will it be next? I really hope it stops with him. Bad thing is, there is usually a long enough period between kids or adults that you think you are done & them BAM... here it comes again.
