Painting Toenails

Okay, I know I've been a little obssesed with Kensley this week in my posts, but she's just so stinkin' cute these days & she's giving me good material. This morning she ran around the house yelling "blee-bit, blee-bit". When I aksed her what she wanted, she took me to her room & pointed at the crib. I figured out it was her blanket for her baby... which has to be swaddled about 50 times a day. Then this afternoon as I was changing her diaper, she dropped her baby into the bed & said "uh-oh I dop beebee" (uh oh, I drop baby). She's brilliant I tell ya!

I had the grand idea this morning that we would paint toenails today. I've been dying to paint hers for along time, but just didn't think that she would cooperate. I talked to one of my friends & she started painting her little girls toes younger than Kensley. I needed a fresh coat of paint on mine, so I thought I would try & paint Kensley's. She did great! She sat still & was so excited to see her pink toes. She squealed with excitement and danced around all morning long. She was even excited to show her Bubba's her pink toes.

I've been trying to post this video all week long & hopefully it will finally work now. Kensley is my little talking machine, so we had a video the other day of her saying her colors. Me & Carter were rolling laughing at her, especially when she says green.

Kensley's pictures

I took Kensley yesterday to have her 18 mth pictures made. I'm a big sucker for pics of my kids... especially when they are cute. However, in my defense, I had planned on getting quite a few pictures because it's been so long since I've had pictures of her made & been able to purchase them to give to friends & family. I went to Portrait Innovations in Charlotte. I've never been there before, so I wasn't really aware of all of their packages or special. Kensley did good for most of the pictures. She got tired of it at the end...but don't we all? As we finished up & the photographer sat me down to view all the pictures, we narrowed the selection down to 14 poses. She then tried to sell me ALL of the poses with a package that included 3 sheets of each pose. Why in the world would I need that many pictures of my kid? That's 42 sheets of pictures of my kid. I don't even have that many people I would give a picture of her too. Plus, not to mention the fact that I have 2 other kids and most people would probably prefer a picture of all 3 of them together. Anyway, off subject... I kept telling her that I didn't want but a few pictures, so we kept narrowing & narrowing & finally got it down to 3 poses. They presented what I thought was a pretty good deal, so I accepted. Then, she says "did you know about our special for $9.95?" Uh no... then she blabbered that you get a bazillion pictures of one pose for that price. Hello? Why didn't I know about this at the beginning & I would have spent a lot less money. Mental note taken for next time. So here's the results of the photo shoot. You might be getting a picture of her soon because I've still got a ton of them... even after we narrowed it down.

After we did pictures, I had lunch with my friend Holly. We ate at a fabulous restaurant... Wolfgang Puck Bistro... it was SO yummy. The one thing that I would like about living in Charlotte is the vast choices of restaurants and shopping... although it would probably be very bad for me.

Let's catch up

Sorry it's been so long since my last post (I'm usually more regular than this). It's not been such a busy week, but we are still having computer problems, so I haven't been on it as much. This week has been a much needed slower pace. Last week was so super busy that I just needed some good ole R & R. Not that you get much of that with 3 kids, but a slower pace is acceptable. I took Kensley on Wednesday to have her pre-op done. She's having tubes on the 29th at 6:30 am. I'm a little nervous about it, but I've talked to so many people that have had it done, I know there is no reason to worry. I think the biggest challenge will be that she won't get her morning "nummy, nummy" until after the surgery. That's basically the only time that she really still nurses is when she first gets up. So that will have to wait awhile.

Carter started t-ball this week. It actually started last week, but we had the PTO open house & then they were gone last Saturday, so this was his first week to be able to go. Here's a team picture... they are all so cute! (Carter is first one on the front row)

Chandler lost another tooth today. I was putting Kensley down for a nap & he yelled "mommy, come here!" He ran into her room & showed me the tooth. I wasn't even aware that it was loose, but he said he didn't tell me because he was afraid I would pull it & it would hurt.
These are the boys school pictures. Chandler looks so much older now. They turned out okay.

I'm loving fixing girl hair. She's in the phase right now where it's kind of ragged, especially around the ends, but it's just long enough to put on top of her head or put in pigtails. Daddy wants a lesson in fixing hair soon. Kensley is my little talking machine. Here's some of her language for the past week:
"lilly" - really (my friend Angie taught her that)
"ohhhh-tay" - she picked that up from Chandler saying it all the time. He got it from the Little Rascals.
"da-dee wuk" - Daddy work.... she says this all the time if Corby is not home
"back"... while she shakes her head & points her finger - it means she'll be right back
"chi-chen" - chicken... one of her favorite foods
"jooooose" - juice... she's over the water thing & demands for "jooooose" if she sees me put water in her cup. I have figured out that she will drink it with only a very small amount of juice & a lot of water.
"tah-bee" - Toby... our neighbors dog that is fascinated with her & she is fascinated with him as well. She tells everyone about "dawg... tah-bee" wherever we go.
Anything that ends with a "ck or k" sounds like she's hocking a loogie or maybe a better terminology would be a German accent. Duck, book, back... there is more, I just can't think of them right now.
Another big thing that she's doing is asking to go pee most every time I change her diaper. As soon as I take off the dirty diaper she says "pee, pee, pee" over & over and points to the bathroom. I sit her down in the floor & she walks straight to the potty. She likes to sit on it, but hasn't done anything except toot on the potty. I idea of no more diapers in the near future sounds glorious to me.
Well, I guess that pretty much wraps up our week. I'm getting everything going for our Disney trip which is so exciting! Packing up here & there, trying to get a little ahead of the game.

Naawwwwuh

We've hit the phase of toddlerhood where the answer to everything is no. Even if she wants it, the answer is no. I've really tried to not use that word so much with her in attempt to avoid this stage, but obviously, it didn't work. At least when she says it, it's not the screaming and forceful NO! She has the more "southern draw" version of naaawwwwuh. As annoying as it is, it's cute.

On different note, we've made our Disney plans... yippie! I am SO excited! I think I'm more excited than the kids really. They kind of know what Disney is, but they have no idea to the magnitude of what's in store for them. I've already got a little notebook & starting to plan out stuff & make my list of what all to take. It is really going to be so much fun for us all. I've only been once & that was when I was in 9th grade. I had one day to see the Magic Kingdom, Epcot & Sea World. I really don't remember anything except for me & my friend Bobbie walking through Cinderella's castle & my friend running into this guy with a leash with an imaginary dog on it & the man barking like crazy because my friend "stepped" on his dog. We laughed our heads off at that. I should have other memories, but I don't.

I'm back up... for now

It's been a super BUSY week, but my computer is working in the mean time. (I have a limited window of time with it working properly before a reboot, so I'm hoping it will hold out. At least it can open a program now. I think we have a virus, just not sure how to get rid of it... antivirus & spyware detect nothing.... sorry, off track)

I'm glad this week is over. It's been one thing after another & I truly think the Lord used my computer issues to keep me off of it for a few days so I could get all my stuff done. I got the wedding invitations done... well, the half that she needed anyway..., went on a field trip with Chandler to Lazy 5 Ranch, had meetings at school, PTO Open House, hosted a Homemade Gourmet show, took care of sick kids... and then I rested today. Whew! Here's a few pics of the weeks events.

Me & Chandler with his buddy Charlie getting ready to ride the wagon
Chandler feeding some of the animals

On Hold

Well, I'm at the end of completing the 400 wedding invitations I've been working on for weeks now, but I'm having other issues right now with my computer. So, just an FYI... you probably won't see a post for a few days until we can figure out what is going on.

Going through pictures

I just had to post these pictures of the kids... Corby got a new camera for work, so of course I had to test it out first. Just a few things to note about these pics.
Carter's mouth always looks like this... when he gets home from school & after he eats most anything... he's growing some kind of ring around his mouth. I have no idea how he gets food or the leftovers under his bottom lip.

Kensley finally likes to swing... I got her one for Easter & I guess it's actually comfy to sit in. She calls it "fwing". I just liked this picture of her & those cheeks (yes, one of them is bruised).
The kids love to jump on the trampoline... all of them (including Corby). The boys think it's much more fun with Daddy. Kensley goes up to it & says "jum-jum-jum"... meaning jump.
