I'm in a bit of a funk. I guess the kids having a 3 day break and a snow day last week has put me in a mood. I don't want to get out of bed in the morning, I don't want to do housework, I'm tired & sleepy all day (doesn't really help that I napped most every day the kids were out of school), I don't feel good and my kids are getting on my nerves. Yes, I admitted it. I actually told Corby one day, as my baby was screaming & hanging onto my pants and the boys were wrestling and running all over the house, that I was tired of being Mommy today. I've got to get my act together and snap out of it. Whack!... (that's me slapping myself back into reality.)
I guess I'm just tired and feeling a bit of the winter blues, but the Lord knows how to get me right where He needs me. I read an article in a magazine tonight... as I mustered up enough umph to clean out the growing stack of papers & "stuff" growing on my kitchen counter...that lifted my spirits a bit. It talked about the endless jobs of a mom and you really never get a break from it, but you have to do it anyway. We've all been there... we have our highs & lows and I guess I'm in my lows right now. However, it also talked about the rewards of being a mom and the little things they do that we love and makes it all worth it at the end of the day. It also gave 3 principles that you should practice everyday: A. W. E.
A - show lots of Affection.
W - fill your home with Warmth.
E - provide tons of Encouragement.
Yes, I'll have my bad days, but in the end, I love being a Mom and I love my kids and my family. I love having the opportunity to be at home with them (... even when they drive me crazy). As long as I keep in check with God and He keeps showing me tidbits along the way of where I need to be spiritually, I'll be fine.

Will we ever get a good snow?
I guess not. We were hyped up for a long weekend of being snowed in at Statesville...bought sleds, took food and lots of warm clothes for playing outside. Didn't happen. It was cold as ever, but not much snow at all. The kids were disappointed.... really disappointed. I must admit that I was disappointed too. We had a great time with the family though and we all broke in the new addition to Corby's parents house.

Want to wish my niece Lauren a Happy 1st Birthday!

Finally some snow!
It's been 3 years since it last snowed here (with the exception of the dusting we had last winter... but that doesn't really count). The boys were so excited when they woke up this morning. They were up at 7:21 am and ready to go outside. School was cancelled so me & Corby tried to sleep in a little, but not long after 8am all the boys were outside getting soaked and having a blast. We got about 2 inches or so when I looked outside at 4am this morning (up with Kensley.. she had a rough night). The ground was covered and you couldn't see any grass. It was so pretty. By the time they actually got outside it had melted a good bit. It was raining at that point. They stayed outside for a couple hours & I had to make them come in & dry out. Then after lunch and warming up, they were back outside soaking up the last bit of snow that remained on the ground. I took Kensley out this morning & she loved it. She walked around smiling and falling down. She didn't like it when I brought her back inside.
We had another issue today... our heat... AGAIN! I don't know what's wrong with this crazy thing. The last time they were here to fix it was Dec 17... exactly 1 month ago. We all thought it was fixed then, but I guess not. Of course on the coldest days is when it decides to go haywire. I don't think it ran at all during the night because it was 65 when I was up at 4 am and I couldn't get it to come on. It finally kicked on about 6am and warmed up the house enough for it to go haywire again after breakfast. It didn't run all morning then kicked on at lunch a couple times & then wouldn't come on again until the guy got here around 3 this afternoon. It was freezing in here. The service guy looked at it & messed with a few things & it came on & has been working all afternoon. I pray that it keeps working. Looks like we've got another round of winter weather coming this weekend, so we need heat!
Here's some pictures & a video clip from today.

Little Update
Just taking a few minutes to write a quick update. Nothing exciting happening... no Carter stories to tell, nothing major other than Kensley is on her 4th double ear infection since Thanksgiving. I am finally recovering from my forever long "whateveritisthatIhave" junk. I got another round of antibiotics and seems to finally be kicking in. We are anxiously waiting to see if it's really going to snow this week like they predict. Time will tell. It's been so long since we've had a good snow, I think we deserve it. My boys are dying for it to snow. I would love a nice LONG weekend since they are out of school next Mon-Wed. Although, it has to clear up before the weekend so we can head to Statesville for my niece's 1st birthday. I'll keep you posted.

Liar, Liar... Part 2
Okay, so one story for one day is not enough. I went to have lunch with Carter today & his assistant teacher told me another one. When he came in yesterday morning, he went to her & said, "guess what... we got robbed last night". So his teacher was very concerned about it & asked what happened. He proceeds to tell her that in the middle of the night someone broke into our house, so he got his gun & Corby got his gun & somehow the tooth fairy got in there, and they both shot him & took care of things. She said he was so believable, so she went down to Chandler class & asked him "did ya'll get robbed last night?" Of course we didn't & he told her we didn't.
What am I going to do with this kid????? When I talked to his teacher today (because she was back at school) she thinks it's hilarious. She is sure that he is going to do something great with this skill one of these days. Of course, she's a grandma herself & loves to hear what he comes up with. But for me, I'm just waiting for somebody to freak out about one of his stories, because, they are mostly believable (not the tooth fairy part) stuff that can really happen. When he tells them, he makes no grins or gives you any reason not to believe him. HELP!!!!!

Liar, liar, pants on fire
I have a storyteller on my hands. I've posted previous stuff about this before. Carter is a big time fibber. Sometimes it's about little stuff & other times it's more serious. Today was a serious one. He told me that his teacher wasn't at school today. So I asked why & he said "she crashed her car into a tree." Very nonchalantly.... no big deal. I freaked & started into a million questions. Is she okay... was she hurt... is she in the hospital? To the last one he answered "yes", but she'll be back at school tomorrow. Oh my gosh! My heart sunk & I'm thinking, if she's in the hospital, she won't be back tomorrow! So I called his assistant to ask her about it. She wasn't there. I called a friend who's kid is in the same class. She wasn't there. I called another friend who's kid is in the class & he said she had an appointment. "Ding"... the light bulb went on. I played into his story. He is SO believable. Then I started drilling him again & saying "are you sure she had an accident?" and he started to cry. I knew it... the little stinker! So I called his teacher (should have been the first one I called, but I didn't think she would be there if she was in the hospital) to make sure all was okay & she laughed out loud. She loves his stories... apparently he tells a lot of them in school and says that he's going to be a great writer one day. Let's hope so, but for now he's writing his own story...I call it "the little boy who cried wolf". One of these days, no one will believe him when he IS telling the truth.

Do you have to, do you have to, do you have to let it linger...
I feel like that song keeps repeating over & over in my house...we just can't get rid of it. Carter has strep throat again. We went to the doctor again this morning. I'm still snotting (for lack of a better word) but it's better than it was. It's reverted now to coughing up all the congestion that I guess settled in my chest.
Other than that, things are pretty good here. Kensley is just walking everywhere now. She's so cute strutting around the house. She loves to carry things around, but she can never carry it all at once, so she gets frustrated (like in the video) and screams at the stuff. She's saying new words everyday. Her newest is "oooos" for shoes. I heard that one for the first time today. She's also saying "mow" and points to her nose... yes, she's a little confused. She's starting to nod her head if she wants or doesn't want something. It's hilarious, because you really don't expect an answer & she shakes yes or no.
The boys started basketball this past weekend. They had their first game on Saturday. It was cute to watch them. Carter's league (5 & 6 yr olds) are still pretty much clueless and the coaches are on the court & guide them. We lost big time... but they don't officially keep score. I don't know if he is going to like it or not... it just doesn't seem like his kind of thing. Chandler's league (7 & 8 yr olds) is more into the game. They actually look like they know what they are doing. There are some big kids in his league. He's so skinny & small compared to the other kids. He's raring to go at the beginning of the game, but towards the end, he's tired of it. Although, he is doing much better than I expected and sticks with it. Kensley doesn't cooperate very well at the games, so I'm not as attentive as I would like to be. They have a game every weekend, so I'll try to get some pics and post them.
